We are planning an application dashboard, which is completely unrelated to the UF4.1.x one (no AdminLTE, no bootstrap etc). (It is going to be a full page app in React).
Should we anticipate any difficulties in bypassing the default UF template?

Template system was built to allow you to replace whatever you like. If you want to integrate with the existing menus things could be more difficult, it depends on how AdminLTE works. If its completely class based though, you should be fine.
UF 5 is expected to decouple the front-end, so let us know about any challenges faced.
